Description

Klein’s ‘Maggie in Autumn’, 2023 screenprinted editions were produced at Atelier JI from film positives hand-painted by the artists. The project saw Klein continuing to experiment and expand upon her rich printmaking career, embracing the medium not only as a form of reproduction, but as a creative language that exists in conversation with her painting practice. In addition to the primary edition, Klien also produced 10 unique hand-finished monoprints.

About the artist

British painter and printmaker Anita Klein studied at both Chelsea School of Art and the Slade School of Art where she was awarded the Henrique Scholarship in 1982 and 1983 and mentored by Paula Rego. Her work explores and celebrates the female experience of family, depicting intimate, humorous and sensitive scenes of motherhood and domesticity that are both comforting and familiar.
