David de la Mano (b. 1975) is a Spanish contemporary artist best known for his striking, large scale monochromatic murals. Drawing inspiration from his observations of social behaviours, he creates poetic and allegorical narratives that aim to represent and comment upon the human condition. Using multiple layers of human, animal and organic formations in silhouette forms, the Artist creates dystopian landscapes and scenes where figures appear to be intrinsically linked, sometimes trapped, in perpetual motion and often facing obstacles and threats. His work evokes a dream-like, fairy tale quality where ambitions fear, vices, hopes, and internal conflicts are confronted.
Atelier JI published our first edition, the 4-colour screen print ‘Las Hijas del Bosque’, with de la Mano in preparation for the 2022 Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair.
