Sir Michael Craig-Martin, one of the most influential artists and teachers of his generation, was a key figure in the first generation of British conceptual artists.

Craig-Martin has developed a distinctive style over the past 50 years through the compilation of a whole vocabulary of objects realised through a variety of media including painting, sculpture, drawing, printing and animations. In 2001 Craig-Martin was appointed CBE; in the same year, he was appointed Emeritus Professor of Fine Art by Goldsmiths College.

Atelier JI was delighted to produce prints to be featured in Craig-Martin’s 2022 exhibition ‘Past Present’ at Cristea Robert Gallery.

Installations

Art gallery with colorful, pop art style paintings of Mona Lisa displayed on white walls, with light wooden flooring and a large skylight overhead.

‘Past Present’ features new prints by Michael Craig-Martin, which pay homage to some of his favourite artists and artworks, including paintings by Leonardo da Vinci, Piero della Francesca, Georges Seurat, Caravaggio, and Diego Velázquez. Craig-Martin reinterprets their imagery for the twenty-first century, deconstructing selected paintings, rebuilding and rendering them in his own distinctive style.
