Piers Secunda at the Atelier JI Studios, 2021

Piers Secunda (b. London, 1976) studied painting at Chelsea College of Art in London. Since the late 90’s, Secunda has developed a studio practice using paint in a sculptural manner, rejecting the limitations imposed by the canvas. His work has developed into a research heavy practice, which examines some of the most significant subjects of our time, such as energy and technology history and the deliberate destruction of culture.

Atelier JI is honoured to present a series of 5 limited-edition etchings by Secunda, created in response to his visit to the Mosul Museum in Iraq, which was destroyed by occupying ISIS forces in 2017 during the Siege of  Mosul.
