ENEMY, 2024

We’ve had the pleasure of working with Phil Hale and First Thursday to produce ENEMY, a limited edition archival pigment print.

The limited edition features Enemy I from Hale’s 2017 exhibition Enemy with painter Jim Threapleton at No 20 Arts, London.

It was a pleasure to print Hale’s first edition with First Thursday. The edition was printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art Pearl stock, which has a beautiful reflective quality that captures the depth of the original oil painting.

This painting was part of a set done in 2017 for the ENEMY show in London. And (as in most of my shows) all of the individual paintings have the same name as the show itself, as they fundamentally form a full composite project, not a series of individual pieces. So this piece is... Enemy. It’s one of my favourites from the series – this one, as the cliche goes, painted itself.
